Digi:Doi – New digital experiences for students

The Digi:Doi project, funded by the British Council, holds its first UK Symposium on LJMU’s campus, with a series of talks and presentations on digital teaching and learning, mentoring and research.

The event at Hardman House – the new Business and Law facility – takes place on Thursday 27 April and features LJMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Mark Power and PVC Student Experience Professor Phil Vickerman.

Professor Tony Wall, of LBS, who is UK lead on the project, said: “This is a catalyst event for university leaders, professional services, and academics wanting to learn new digital pedagogies through collaborative projects, and to share ideas with peers in Vietnam.

“We’re delighted to get the ball rolling on this new network which aims to co-create opportunities for collaborative training to drive digital transformation in universities.

“The Symposium will help generate ideas and possibilities for future collaboration.”

Among key presenters are Dr Tien Ho, Phu Xuan University President and Simon Birkett from JISC, while Faculty of Business & Law academics present:

  • Using EdTech for a blended approach to interaction: mentimeter, padlet and Kahoot! by Dr Clay Gransden and students.
  • Exploring artificial intelligence and ChatGPT for engaged learning by Associate Dean Dr Olatunde Durowoju
  • Exploring opportunities and the design for collaborative teaching e.g. through Collaborative Online International Learning by Dr Alison Lui, Dr Amanda Mason, Dr Maddy Stevens and students
  • Exploring ideas for collaborative evaluation and research and the support needed to deliver it by Professor Tony Wall and National Teaching Fellow and Dr Sonja Rewhorn (Open University UK).

Vietnam is a key global partner of LJMU with both Dong A University in Da Nang City, and Van Lang University, in Ho Chi Ming City, offering collaborative programmes with LJMU in Business, Marketing, Tourism, Finance and Events.

Vietnam with a population of 100 million and one of the fastest growing economies of the 21stC has grown its higher education sector ten-fold since 1995 and how has 419 institutions of higher education.
